Project Description
Installation is underway on Infinity Rack’s largest solar canopy project to date at the Freeman Environmental Education Center. The finished structure will create more than 5,000 square feet of covered outdoor classroom space, combining renewable energy generation with a functional, weather-protected environment for education and gathering.
The project consists of two 9×10 Infinity Rack solar steel cantilever structures, each supporting 90 solar modules. The two structures are joined at the center with a ridge cap to create a single, expansive pavilion-style roof with 180 solar modules total.
A Solar Canopy Designed for Outdoor Education
Rather than dedicating space solely to a traditional ground-mounted solar array, the project transforms the solar installation into usable infrastructure. The canopy will provide shade and weather protection for an outdoor classroom while simultaneously supporting the site’s solar energy system.
Infinity Rack’s mechanically watertight roofing system integrates the solar modules directly into the roof, eliminating the need for a separate roof beneath the array while concealing wiring within the structure.
Custom Two-Tone Design
The structure features a custom dual-color finish with beige columns and black roof beams. The combination allows the large-scale solar pavilion to complement its natural surroundings while maintaining the clean architectural appearance of the Infinity Rack system.
Installation is currently in progress, and we’ll update this project with finished photography once the outdoor classroom is complete.
